What you'll learn

  • Basic tote construction: assemble outer and lining pieces, sew seams, and turn right side out

  • Attaching sturdy handles

  • Optional boxed-bottom technique to add dimension and stability

  • Tips for using denim and repurposing shirts to upcycle materials

Bring

  • Five 10" fabric squares (fat quarters work well) — raid your fabric stash or bring an old (clean) pair of jeans and a shirt to upcycle

  • Matching thread

  • Basic sewing supplies: pins/clips, ruler, fabric scissors, seam ripper

  • Portable sewing machine that you’re comfortable using

We provide

  • Kits available for purchase (additional cost) if you prefer supplies provided

  • We have a very limited number of basic sewing machines if you do not have one.
